Why is my period irregular?

When your daughter cries and you do not know what to say: a guide for dads

Irregular periods are super common, especially in your first few years! Your body is still learning its rhythm. Your cycle might be 25 days one month and 35 days the next – that’s normal when you’re just starting out. Stress, sleep changes, exercise, and growth can all affect your cycle. It can take 2-3 years for your period to become regular, and that’s perfectly okay.

What can help:

What to know

  • Track your periods on a calendar or app
  • Don’t worry if they’re unpredictable at first
  • Talk to a doctor if you go 3+ months without a period
  • Keep pads or tampons with you just in case

Your body is figuring things out, and irregularity at the start is totally normal!
