Period blood can range from bright red to dark brown, and all colors are normal! Fresh blood is bright red. Older blood that takes longer to leave your body looks brown (like when a cut scabs over). You might see bright red at the start when flow is heavy, and brown at the beginning or end when flow is lighter. Black or very dark blood is just really old blood – nothing to worry about!
