Ovulation is when one of your ovaries releases an egg – it happens about halfway through your menstrual cycle. This egg travels down a fallopian tube, and if it meets sperm, pregnancy can happen. If not, your body prepares to shed the uterine lining (your period). You might notice clear, stretchy discharge around ovulation time, or feel a slight twinge on one side of your lower belly. Ovulation is what makes pregnancy possible in the future.
