Period clots are small gel-like blobs that sometimes come out with your period blood. They form when blood pools in your uterus or vagina before coming out, giving it time to clot like when you get a cut. Small clots (smaller than a quarter) are completely normal, especially on heavier flow days. They’re just a part of how your body works! Very large or frequent clots should be mentioned to a doctor, but small ones are nothing to worry about.
What can help:
What to know
- Understand that small clots are normal
- They’re more common on heavy flow days
- Track them if they seem unusual to you
- Talk to a doctor if clots are consistently large
Your body is working exactly as it should – clots are part of the normal process!
