During your period (usually days 1-5 of your cycle), your body is going through its monthly reset. Here’s what’s really going on and how to feel your best.
What’s Happening Inside
Your uterus is shedding its lining – that’s the blood you see. Both estrogen and progesterone (your main hormones) are at their lowest levels right now. Think of it as your body pressing the reset button.
How You Might Feel
Lower energy than usual – and that’s completely okay! You might feel more tired, quiet, or want alone time. Cramping is super common as your uterus contracts to shed its lining. Some people get headaches, backaches, or feel bloated.
What Helps During This Phase
What to know
- Take it easy – this is NOT the time to push yourself hard
- Heat pads or hot water bottles for cramps
- Gentle movement like stretching or walking
- Comfort foods are okay – your body needs fuel
- Extra sleep if you need it
- Stay hydrated – water helps with bloating
Good To Know
Everyone’s period is different. Some people barely notice it, others need extra rest. Your flow might be light some days and heavier others. All of this is normal! Your body is doing something amazing – preparing for a new cycle.
