Starting the conversation is often the hardest part. You could say something like, ‘I need to talk to you about something serious happening at school’ or ‘Someone has been treating me badly and I need help.’ Choose a calm, private time when the adult can give you full attention.
Be as specific as possible: who is doing it, what they’re doing, when and where it happens, and how it makes you feel. If you’re nervous about talking face-to-face, you could write a letter or email first. Bring evidence if you have it – screenshots, texts, or a journal of incidents.
What can help:
What to know
- Pick an adult you trust and who has time to listen
- Practice what you want to say beforehand
- Write down key points so you don’t forget
- Bring a friend for support if that helps
- Remember that asking for help is a sign of strength
Good adults will take you seriously and work to keep you safe. You deserve to be heard.
