Studying while exhausted is like trying to fill a leaky bucket – your brain just can’t absorb much. When you’re tired, concentration, memory, and problem-solving all suffer. Sometimes you have no choice and must push through, but consistently studying while exhausted isn’t effective or sustainable. Sometimes the best thing you can do is rest first.
What can help:
What to know
- Take a 20-minute power nap before studying if possible
- Use active study methods (standing, pacing, talking out loud)
- Study the most important material first while you have any energy
- Know when to stop and sleep – you’ll be more efficient tomorrow
Rest is productive – sometimes sleeping IS the best use of time!
