Good to know
Studying something once doesn’t mean you’ll remember it! Your brain needs repetition and active engagement to move information from short-term to long-term memory. Passive reading or highlighting isn’t as effective as active methods like self-quizzing, teaching someone else, or connecting new info to things you already know. Spacing out study sessions over time works better than cramming.
What can help:
What to know
- Quiz yourself instead of just rereading
- Explain concepts out loud as if teaching someone
- Create connections between new and familiar ideas
- Review material multiple times over several days
Active learning sticks, passive reading doesn’t!
