How do I accept my body as it grows?

  • 2 min read

Your body is changing rapidly during puberty, and accepting those changes can be challenging. Here’s how to find peace with your growing body.

Your Body Is Doing Its Job
Every change, height, weight, shape, hair, skin, is your body following its biological plan. It’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.
Comparison is Unfair
You’re comparing your everyday reality to everyone else’s highlight reel. You see your body in every state; you only see others at their best moments.
There’s No ‘Right’ Timeline
Some people develop early, others late. Some change gradually, others suddenly. All timelines are normal, there’s no right way to go through puberty.
Your Body Will Settle
Puberty feels chaotic because change is constant. But your body will find its adult form and stabilize. The awkward in-between phase won’t last forever.
Function Over Form
Focus on what your body can DO, run, dance, hug, create, laugh, rather than just how it looks. Your body is a tool for living, not an ornament.
Talk Back to Negative Thoughts
When you think “My body is wrong,” challenge it: “Wrong compared to what? Who decided that standard? My body is exactly right for me.”
Seek Positive Influences
Limit time with content that makes you feel bad about your body. Follow accounts that show diverse, real bodies.
Be Patient with Yourself
Acceptance is a practice, not a destination. Some days will be harder than others, and that’s okay.
