Being “moody” means your emotions change quickly – you might feel happy one moment and sad or irritable the next. This is super common during puberty! Hormones fluctuate, your brain is developing, and you’re dealing with lots of changes and stress. Your moods might shift with your menstrual cycle too. It doesn’t mean you’re difficult or broken – your body and mind are growing.

What can help:

What to know

  • Track your moods to see patterns (like cycle-related changes)
  • Get regular sleep, food, and exercise – basics matter!
  • Be patient with yourself during mood swings
  • Let people know “I’m feeling moody today” so they understand
