Anxiety can show up anywhere, at school, at home, or both. Here are ways to manage it wherever you are.
Recognize the Signs
Anxiety might feel like butterflies in your stomach, racing thoughts, sweating, or feeling restless. Knowing what anxiety feels like for YOU helps you address it.
At School
If anxiety hits during class, try slow breathing without anyone noticing. Focus on your breath for a few minutes. If you need to, ask to get water or use the bathroom for a quick break.
At Home
Go to a quiet space where you feel safe. Do something calming like listening to music, drawing, or spending time with a pet. Tell a parent or trusted adult how you’re feeling.
Before Triggering Situations
If you know something makes you anxious (like tests or presentations), practice ahead of time. Preparation builds confidence and reduces anxiety.
Challenge Worried Thoughts
Anxiety often exaggerates problems. Ask yourself: “Is this thought realistic? What’s the actual worst that could happen? How likely is that?”
Talk About It
Telling someone you trust about your anxiety can help. They might have suggestions, or just listening can ease the burden.
When Anxiety is Frequent
If anxiety interferes with your life regularly, talk to a parent about seeing a counselor. Anxiety is very treatable, and you don’t have to handle it alone.
